Sinus Lift

A grafting procedure that adds bone under the sinus so implants can be placed in the upper back jaw.

In the upper back jaw, the sinus can sit close to where an implant needs to go. A sinus lift gently raises the sinus membrane and adds bone graft material underneath, creating enough height to support a dental implant.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?

You may need a sinus lift if you are getting an upper back implant and your 3D scan shows there isn't enough bone height. Bone loss after a tooth is removed is a common reason.

What to Expect

Dr. Ramy Habib reviews your 3D CBCT scan to measure the bone. The procedure is done with local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide is available. The graft heals over several months before or while the implant is placed.

Common Questions

Quick answers to questions we hear often. See all FAQs

Does a sinus lift hurt?

The area is numbed, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Mild swelling afterward is common.

Can the implant go in at the same time?

Sometimes. If there is enough bone to hold the implant steady, both can be done in one visit.

What should I avoid after surgery?

Avoid blowing your nose hard, using straws and heavy lifting for a short period. We'll give you full instructions.
