Inlays & Onlays
Custom-made restorations that repair larger cavities while saving more natural tooth than a crown.
Inlays and onlays are custom restorations for teeth with damage that is too large for a regular filling but not severe enough for a full crown. They fit precisely into or over the damaged area and preserve more of your natural tooth.
IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?
They are a good option for back teeth with large cavities, cracked cusps or old fillings that need replacing.

What to Expect
We remove the decay or old filling, take a digital scan, and place a temporary. Your custom inlay or onlay is then bonded in place at a second visit.
Common Questions
Quick answers to questions we hear often. See all FAQs
What's the difference between an inlay and an onlay?
An inlay fits within the cusps of the tooth. An onlay also covers one or more cusps.
Why not just a filling?
For larger areas, an inlay or onlay is stronger and more durable than a large filling.
Why not a crown?
Inlays and onlays keep more of your healthy tooth structure when a full crown isn't necessary.
