Periodontal Maintenance
Ongoing specialized cleanings that keep gum disease under control after treatment.
Gum disease can be controlled, but it needs ongoing care to stay that way. Periodontal maintenance visits go further than a regular cleaning, removing bacteria and tartar from below the gumline and tracking the health of your gums over time.
IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?
Patients who have been treated for gum disease with deep cleaning, laser therapy or gum surgery, and patients with a history of bone loss around their teeth.

What to Expect
We measure your gum pockets, clean carefully above and below the gumline and compare results with past visits. If anything changes, we can act quickly.
Common Questions
Quick answers to questions we hear often. See all FAQs
How often do I need these visits?
Most patients come in every three to four months. We set the schedule based on how your gums respond.
How is this different from a regular cleaning?
Regular cleanings focus above the gumline. Periodontal maintenance also treats the pockets below it, where gum disease lives.
Will I always need it?
For most patients with a history of gum disease, ongoing maintenance is the best way to protect your teeth long-term.
